Dániel Antal commented on Corina Murafa's blog post Should political groups nominate candidates for the EP Presidency?
"I think the fact that the LibDems have a candidate for the EP chairperson's positions shows that they are struggle to seem relevant. They are aiming at the only post that with the luck of a hung European Parliament they can achieve. But I would…"

Should political groups nominate candidates for the EP Presidency?

Guys, it looks like the EPP declared (via MEP Martens) they will support Barroso as President of the Commission. Not too much of a surprise. You can read more about it here: http://www.europeanvoice.com/article/2009/01/barroso-remains-right-s-favoured-commission-president/63805.aspxWhich reminded me of the discussion we had with the MEPs... why do you think having political groups designate candidates for the Presidency of the EP is better than them keeping it a secret? Aren't we personalizing…See More

Short biography
I’ve been enjoying Romanian society - with all its ups and downs - for 24 years now. I was lucky enough to live and study in New York as an Open Society Institute fellow, then went back to Romania doing my best to change the world around me for the better. I am a doer and an overachiever. But yeah… I am addicted to caffeine.:)

Currently I have temporarily left Romania, though I travel back quite often, as I still have various projects going on in there, such as the One World Film Clubs by ORICUM Association. I am now living in the amazing city of Berlin, Germany, doing a professional Master’s in Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance. Before this, I graduated the Faculty of Political Sciences, Bucharest University and worked for Deloitte Romania in management consulting for the public sector and for the United Nations Development Programme in the Energy and Environment Section. My main academic and professional interests are energy and environment policies, EU affairs, public management and social entrepreneurship.

While I am deeply passionate about intellectual debates and the academia in general, I will invest my energy, skills and passion in a more action-oriented realm, by remaining involved in Romanian public life, as an activist and a policy-maker.
